Paris, the city of love and my favorite place in the world! I have been lucky enough to visit Paris three times. The last two times were with my little sister Rocio. I had so much fun showing Rocio around and sharing beautiful Paris with her. There were endless amounts of baguettes, chocolate croissants, and crepes devoured on this trip! I’m already dreaming of going back but for now, I’ve rounded up our 10 favorite things to do in Paris.

Rue Cremiuex

Rue Cremiuex is a residential street with colorful buildings in the 12th arrondissement. These beautiful homes remind me of London’s Notting Hill neighborhood. It’s located near Rue de Lyon and Rue de Bercy. You can get there by metro, just ask one of the attendants which route to take from where you are. If you love colorful buildings, then this is the perfect attraction for you! We had a lot of fun taking photos here.

Notre Dame

The famous Notre Dame is a medieval Catholic cathedral, located on the Ile de la Cite. It sits beside the Seine River making for some beautiful views. On our last visit to Paris, we walked down the bridge steps and walked along side the water. We got some amazing views of Notre Dame this way! Don’t miss the view from the Pont Saint Louis.

Tip: We really wanted to walk the steps to the top of the cathedral but we waited too long to reserve our time slot. There is no way to book tickets in advance online; you have to reserve a time slot on the kiosk at the entrance which is on the left side of the building if you are facing the front facade. The reservation is free, but the tickets are 10 euros. I recommend you stop by the cathedral first thing in the morning to reserve your time! You can also download an app called “Jefile” to reserve your time slot. Entrance into the main level of the cathedral is free.

Eiffel Tower

The iconic Eiffel Tower is located on the western end of the Champ de Mars. The grass in front of the tower is the perfect spot for a picnic. We enjoyed the view of the tower while snacking on baguette, cheese, salami, and macarons for dessert!

Tip: I waited till a few weeks before our trip to book tickets to the top of the tower. It was way too late! We didn’t get to go the the top, but I snagged us tickets to the second level at 10:30 pm. We would have loved to go up in daylight; so book your tickets well in advance if you plan to do so! Also, don’t miss the Eiffel tower light show that happens every hour on the hour.

Jardin Du Luxembourg

The beautiful Jardin Du Luxembourg, or the Luxembourg gardens is a place where locals and tourists alike gather to rest, read the paper, and admire the beauty around them. It’s also a great spot for people watching! The flowers were in full bloom when we visited this August. The beautiful fountain, colorful, gardens, and stunning palace make this place a sight to see.

Tip: Walking on the grass is not allowed. Playing in the water fountain isn’t either. Don’t try it!

Louvre

The Louvre (or Louvre Musuem) is another famous landmark in Paris. The beautiful glass pyramid has been shot for footage in several hollywood movies! The Louvre, the largest art museum in the world, houses the famous Mona Lisa painting. You will definitely need a good chunk of a day to stroll through. Tickets are 11 euros. You can buy them online here. Lines can get pretty long, so this is another attraction you will want to book in advance!

Tip: I recommend visiting the Louvre early to avoid the crowds and get some fun pictures!

Walk along the Seine

The Seine river running through the center of Paris, is one of the many things that make Paris so beautiful! At any time, you can spot boat cruises transporting tourists to main attractions. We walked along the river from the Notre Dame to the Eiffel Tower, snapping a ton of great shots along the way.

Tip: Don’t forget to walk down the steps at any of the bridges to access the river bank. You can get some unique views this way.

Trocadero

The Trocadero is a large square across the Pont d’Lena bridge with amazing views of the Eiffel tower. This is a great spot for getting tons of fun shots. The Trocadero gardens make for a nice place to rest.

Tip: The square at the top of the stairs is another great spot for photos. We didn’t think to walk up there so we missed out!

Montmartre

This historic hillside neighborhood has been home to many famous artists like Van Gogh and Picasso. We loved walking through the cafe lined streets on our way to visit the Sacre Coeur cathedral. Be sure to stop by Le Consulat and La Maison Rose, two picture perfect cafes. The Moulin Rouge cabaret is also located in this area.

Tip: Le Consulat and La Maison Rose were both closed when we visited in the morning. I recommend stopping by in the afternoon if you would like to eat at the cafes.

Arc du Triomphe, arch, history, Paris, France, panoramic views, views, Europe, travel, explore, Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysee

Arc Du Triomphe

The Arc Du Triomphe located at the western end of the beautiful Champs Elysee avenue, is one of the most famous monuments in Paris. It’s actually the biggest arc in the world! We climbed to the top of the Arc to admire the beautiful panoramic view of Paris and absolutely loved it! Tickets are 13 euros and you can book them in advance here. I recommend booking them in advance to avoid the long line.

Tip: Do NOT walk across the street to get to the Arc. This is not allowed and so dangerous! Believe it or not, several tourists tried crossing while we were there. The police were not happy! To get to the entrance, you will have to walk around the round-about until you arrive at the underground entrance on the western side of the Arc. Save yourself the risk (and embarrassment) and use this entrance!

Pont Alexander III

The Pont Alexander III is the most elegant bridge along the Seine river. It connects the Champs Elysees quarter with the Invalides quarter. The bridge is ornately decorated with gold scrolls, flowers, and columns mounted with gold winged horses. My favorite view of the Eiffel Tower can be seen from this bridge.

Others:

Musee D’Orsay: A popular museum with a beautiful square. Perfect for taking photos!

Printemps Shopping Center: There is an amazing view of Paris from the rooftop of this shopping center. It was under construction when we visited.

Sacre Coeur: A beautiful cathedral in the Montmartre neighborhood with amazing views of the city.

Eat all the crepes macarons, chocolate croissants, and baguettes!

There are endless amounts of things to do in Paris! I don’t think you could ever see them all in one trip.I hope you enjoyed my top 10 list! Let me know what your favorite things to do in Paris are in the comments down below. Also, check out my Paris Travel Diary on YouTube here!

  1. Oh this makes me want to hop on a plane so badly (and I hate flying haha!). I definitely need to put these things on my bucketlist 🙂

    1. I wish! It was actually a template created by Basic Invite. I just put in the information and tweaked the colors a bit 🙂

  2. It looks like you had a fabulous time! My friend who lives in Paris taught me that if you’re going to the Louvre, it’s worth booking your tickets for the time it opens, and then when you’re in head straight for the Mona Lisa! It the best way to get an uncrowded view of it. It worked for us!

  3. I absolutely adore Paris, I’ve been a number of times and it’s definitely up there in my favourite cities in the world! My favourite area is Montmartre, I could spend hours just people watching round there.

  4. I love all the shots, you look lovely. Every time I am in Paris, I discover something new and there are few things in this compilation which I am adding to my list now. Definitely, need to roam more near the Eiffel Tower.
