Jupiter Hotel Review
For our four year anniversary, I surprised Schyler with a stay-cation at the Jupiter Hotel. We always go on an anniversary trip and this year we decided to go to San Francisco. I invited my sister, who now lives with us in Portland, along for the trip. Since the trip was no longer going to be just the two of us, I wanted to make up for it! It was fun to get away for a night and Schyler was totally surprised! In this post I’m sharing a review of the hotel including fun spots to check out near by.
THE LOCATION
The Jupiter Hotel is located on E Burnside, across the river from downtown Portland. The central location makes it really easy to get just about anywhere in Portland. I liked that the area is a little more laid back and doesn’t feel as busy as downtown. The Jupiter Hotel is really close to the convention center which makes it a great place to stay if you are coming in for a concert from out of town!
WHAT’S THERE TO DO NEAR THE HOTEL?
There are tons of cute shops, coffee bars, restaurants, and breweries lining E Burnside. I love knowing what’s nearby my hotel, it’s so convenient to be able to walk right outside and find a coffee shop or restaurant.
Shops
We really liked browsing through Seven Sisters, a boutique offering clothing, home decor, and jewelry all sustainably made. Other shops to browse through are Redux Boutique, Sword & Fern, and Bombshell Vintage.
Restaurants
Le Pigeon, an adorable modern french restaurant, is right next to the Jupiter Hotel. They serve an adventerous french inspired menu and wines. Sizzle Pie, a popular Portland pizza joint, is also near by. Burnside Brewery is on 7th Ave right off of Burnside. It’s a great place to stop and try some of Portland’s popular IPA’s. If you’re feeling some sushi, Mirakutei is on the corner of 6th and Burnside.
Coffee
We chose to take a bit of a walk to Ristretto Roasters (on the corner of 6th and Couch) but there is a cute coffee shop across the street from the Jupiter Hotel called Grendel’s Coffee Shop. The also serve small bites like bagels and sandwiches so this is a great place to stop by in the morning.
Doug Fir Lounge
The Doug Fir Lounge neighboring the Jupiter Hotel, is a well known music venue and lounge. It’s a great place to stop by for some food, a drink, or both! They also have an awesome outdoor area with plenty of seating that’s perfect for nice weather. They even have a retro photo booth outside! The decor really has that Pacific Northwest feel to it. I have yet to see a show there but I would love to check one out some time.
WHAT I LOVED ABOUT THE HOTEL
I really like the modern, retro feel of the Jupiter Hotel. The rooms had bright and fun decor and the lobby was clean and modern too. They have some really cool art pieces on display in the lobby as well as in their tented, outdoor lounge area. They host a lot of different events in that area so there is plenty of seating. They even host weddings there!
I also really loved how green the space was! The grounds inside the Jupiter Hotel had tons of trees which made for some pretty views. Not only were the grounds green, but the rooms were too! The Jupiter Hotel provides eco friendly bath products. The blow dryer and the heating/cooling unit were green as well.
The Jupiter Hotel is a great place to stay if you are visiting the beautiful city of Portland. If you are planning a trip to Portland, check out the Jupiter Hotel here and book your stay! Use the code URBANDARLING to save 15% when you book.
Disclosure: I partnered with the Jupiter Hotel however all opinions are completely my own.
