Nesting has officially begun! šŸ¼ I got the bassinet Nesting has officially begun! šŸ¼ I got the bassinet set up, shopped for baby clothes, washed everything, and stocked up on diapers plus some essentials for mama. Thereā€™s still so much to do, of course šŸ˜… Sage has been such a big help, running errands with mama and, of course, joining me for coffee and pastry dates. Meanwhile, daddy has been working hard to finish up our kitchen remodel! A day late, but I still wanted to celebrate Hispan A day late, but I still wanted to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with my son, Sage! ā¤ļø My mother is from Colombia and moved to the U.S. when she married my dad. My abuelita was my nanny, and I spoke Spanish before I spoke English. My mom took us to Colombia many times throughout my childhood to visit family, which helped me develop a strong connection to my Colombian roots. Growing up, I was often told I was ā€œwhiteā€ because my dad is Irish and Italian. Sometimes, those comments came from other Latinas, which made them especially confusing and hurtful. I felt such a strong connection to my Hispanic heritage, and it was hard when others didnā€™t see or understand that part of me. As an adult, Iā€™ve learned to embrace and take pride in who I am, my roots, and the things that make me unique. I plan to raise both of my boys to do the same!
