5 Beautiful Places To Visit In Northern Arizona
In late October, my parents took me on a trip they had planned to Northern Arizona to see some fall colors which we don’t really get here in Phoenix. During our 4 day trip we stopped in Prescott and Jerome and explored Flagstaff and Sedona while staying at a cabin in Oak Creek. I was amazed by the beautiful sights we saw and thought I would share a few with you here in this blog post. I will also be sharing mini blog posts guides for Flagstaff and Sedona so be sure to check back for those!
Watson Lake (Prescott)
Just four miles outside of Prescott, you will find this beautiful lake with the most unique rock formations. The bright blue water looked stunning against the landscape and the late afternoon sky when we visited. We stopped by on our way to Jerome just to admire the scenery, but you can also fish, kayak, canoe and more if you love outdoor activities. There is also a campsite here if you are looking for a pretty place to camp!
Oak Creek (Sedona)
Oak Creek is a popular area just outside of Sedona for camping, fishing, hiking and more. This part of the canyon was right next to the cabin that my parents and I were staying in, but you can look up Oak Creek Canyon if you want to explore this area. It’s in between the drive from Sedona to Flagstaff which is filled with beautiful sights along the way!
Slide Rock (Sedona)
Slide Rock is located in the Oak Creek area just outside of Sedona. Years ago, it was a homestead apple farm, but now it’s a state park. The rocky landscape along with the cool waters of Oak Creek form these “slides” that people come to enjoy in the warmer months. We arrived just before the park closed but there were still a few people who traveled a long way to slide down the creek. The red rocky formations were quite stunning to photograph as well!
Bell Rock & Cathedral Rock (Sedona)
People come from miles to see the beautiful rock formations in Sedona. Two of the most popular ones are Bell Rock & Cathedral Rock. We were only in Sedona for a day during this trip but on our way out we stopped at a view point where you could see them in the background. We then stopped at another a little further down the road to get a few shots up close. The lighting, the landscape, and the colors were so beautiful in the late afternoon and I love how these photos turned out. Such a stunning place!
Aspen Loop Trail (Flagstaff)
My parents and I were really hoping to see some fall colors and we found just that at Aspen Loop Trail near Flagstaff. We made it just in time as many of the colorful leaves had already fallen off the Aspen trees. We drove all the way to the top where there is a ski resort. There are also several hikes throughout the area. It was such a stunning place to see and the drive there and back was beautiful!
I hope you found some beautiful places to add to your itinerary if you are planning a trip to the Northern part of Arizona! It really is such a beautiful state with so many amazing places to explore, I can’t wait to see more.
