Living in Phoenix, I’ve definitely figured out what I like when it comes to going out: if it’s not cute, aesthetic, and actually has good food or coffee, I’m probably not going. Lately, I’ve been trying a mix of newer spots and long-awaited ones with friends and family, and a few have really stood out. These are all places I’ve personally been to recently—and would genuinely go back to.

Aristocrat Coffee

Aristocrat Coffee was a spot I had been waiting on for so long—I’m talking almost a year after peeking inside while it was still being finished and already knowing it was going to be cute. I finally went, and it definitely lived up to my expectations. I’ve only been once so far, but it made a strong first impression. The space is super aesthetic and thoughtfully designed, and the coffee itself was really good too. It’s one of those places that just feels worth the wait.

North Italia

North Italia is where we celebrated one of my mom’s friend’s birthdays, and it ended up being such a fun choice. I picked it because it looked really cute and was in downtown Tempe, which made it easy for everyone to meet up. The vibe inside is super lively, and the food did not disappoint—the pizza was so good, and the desserts were honestly a highlight. It’s definitely a great option for group dinners or special occasions.

Wonderift Coffee

Wonderift Coffee was a more spontaneous find—my mom and I stopped by while running errands after I did a quick Google search, and it ended up being such a good pick. We kept it simple with coffee and banana bread, but both were really good. It has that aesthetic, slightly trendy feel without being over the top, and it’s perfect if you just need a quick but cute stop in your day.

George & Gather

George & Gather is actually really special to me—we had our reception dinner there the night before our wedding, which made it such a fun and memorable spot. It’s a newer restaurant and has such a lively, cute atmosphere that’s perfect for groups. I’ve also been back for brunch with friends, and it’s just as good during the day. One thing I love is that there’s a little bakery and shop on the left side when you walk in, which adds to the whole experience.

Light Heart Coffee

Light Heart Coffee is one I’ve been to quite a bit—they have several locations, and I’ve made it to all of them at this point. My favorite is definitely the Scottsdale location; I think the service and overall coffee quality there stand out the most. My mom and I stopped by one day while running errands, and even though it’s usually pretty busy (for a reason), it’s always a solid choice. It’s cute, consistent, and just a really good go-to.

At this point, I know my standards: it has to be cute, it has to feel aesthetic, and it has to be good. These spots all check those boxes in different ways, and I love that each one is tied to a memory—whether it was wedding weekend, a birthday, or just running errands with my mom. Phoenix seriously has no shortage of good places right now, but these are definitely some of my recent favorites.
