A Mini Travel Guide To Palm Springs

On the first day of our California trip, we stayed in Palm Springs. Andrew had never been, which is why I wanted it to be one of our stops. I have always loved retro, mid-century vibes and Palm Springs is known for that, of course! We only had about a day and a half to explore, but we were able to see and do quite a few things that I wanted to share in this blog post. Both Andrew and I agreed we wished we had more time to explore the town, so we will definitely have to plan another trip there sometime! I hope you guys enjoy this blog post.

Ace Hotel & Swim Club

I have always loved retro, mid-century vibes and Palm Springs is known for that, of course! During our time there, we stayed at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club, a hotel I have always wanted to go to. This hotel definitely had that retro feel to it! With two restaurants, a pool, and that iconic Palm Springs scenery, it was the perfect hotel.

King’s Highway

King’s Highway is a popular spot for food in Palm Springs. It’s a diner with lots of vintage charm! They are open every day from 7 am -10 pm with lots of indoor seating as well as patio seating next to the pool. I loved the old-school booths, chandeliers, and the amazing wicker elephant focal point on one of the mid-century style rock walls. We ended up ordering pool-side bites so we could enjoy the morning outside by the pool, so we didn’t get the chance to dine in King’s Highway, but the food is from the same kitchen and it was very good.

The Amigo Room

The night we arrived, we had an amazing dinner at The Amigo Room. It was recently renovated, and I absolutely loved the vintage, maximalist design of the interiors. It was like mid-century modern meets art deco! We ordered four dishes to share, cocktails, and dessert. We share everything we eat with Sage, and he was loving the food, especially the hummus! Andrew loved the burger sliders and my favorite is always dessert. The cocktails were great as well!

On The Mark

If you love gourmet food markets, then you need to check out this spot in Palm Springs. On The Mark Fine Foods and Provisions is known for their curated selection of cheeses, charcuterie, wine, sandwiches, and gift baskets. Because Andrew is a chef, we wanted to check this spot out and we were very impressed with their selection. Andrew picked up a bottle of wine for us that we enjoyed with my sister the next night.

Market Market

Andrew and I were super impressed by the size of this place! Market Market is a sprawling marketplace filled with an eclectic mix of vendors selling fine vintage and re-purposed goods. The 40,000 square foot industrial-style space was truly impressive, and very well designed. The Palm Springs Bottle Shop has a location in the building if you want to pick up some wine to take back to your hotel! If you are a vintage lover, then this place is heaven! You will definitely want to set aside at least a few hours to stroll around and shop.

Mid Century House Tour

One of the popular things to do while visiting Palm Springs is to drive around some of the older neighborhoods looking for those iconic mid-century homes. Lucky for us, our hotel was right next to one of the perfect neighborhoods for doing just that! This was the neighborhood I drove around with my parents and sister the last time I was in Palm Springs. Check out that blog post here! Afterward driving around there, we headed to some boutiques we wanted to check out.

Joshua Tree National Park

First and foremost, the main reason I wanted us to visit Joshua Tree was so that Andrew could see Joshua Tree National Park. I visited Joshua Tree with my parents and sister several years ago, and I thought it was such a beautiful place. I love the desert landscape. Andrew loves nature and the outdoors, so I knew he would love it, and Sage loved it too! We only had enough time to drive through and stop at a few spots, but I love the photos we captured there.
