A Weekend In Sedona, AZ: Where To Eat & What To Do
I wanted to share a quick guide for a weekend in Sedona! My parent’s and I spent 4 days exploring northern Arizona including Flagstaff, Sedona, Jerome, and Prescott. We stayed in a cabin in Oak Creek just outside of Sedona and went in to Sedona a few times during our stay. In this guide I am sharing the things we did while visiting Sedona all of which would fit very nicely into a weekend or even a day trip if you really wanted to squeeze it all in! Sedona is absolutely beautiful and there is so much to do and explore there, but this should be a good start if you are looking for recommendations for your trip to Sedona.
What To Do
Bell Rock & Cathedral Rock (Sedona)
People come from miles to see the beautiful rock formations in Sedona. Two of the most popular ones are Bell Rock & Cathedral Rock. We were only in Sedona for a day during this trip but on our way out we stopped at a view point where you could see them in the background. We then stopped at another a little further down the road to get a few shots up close. The lighting, the landscape, and the colors were so beautiful in the late afternoon and I love how these photos turned out. Such a stunning place!
Sedona Airport Overlook
A very popular spot for watching the sunset in Sedona is the Sedona Airport Overlook. I couldn’t believe how many people were there watching with their loved ones. This amazing violinist from Sedona was there playing music for everyone which made the whole experience even more amazing! I actually teared up because it was such a beautiful moment. You can see almost all of Sedona from up there so it’s a really cool spot if you have time to check it out!

Slide Rock State Park
Slide Rock is located in the Oak Creek area just outside of Sedona. Years ago, it was a homestead apple farm, but now it’s a state park. The rocky landscape along with the cool waters of Oak Creek form these “slides” that people come to enjoy in the warmer months. We arrived just before the park closed but there were still a few people who traveled a long way to slide down the creek. The red rocky formations were quite stunning to photograph as well!
Oak Creek Canyon
Oak Creek is a popular area just outside of Sedona for camping, fishing, hiking and more. This part of the canyon was right next to the cabin that my parents and I were staying in, but you can look up Oak Creek Canyon if you want to explore this area. It’s in between the drive from Sedona to Flagstaff which is filled with beautiful sights along the way!
Where To Eat
Tlaquepaque
This spot falls into both things to do and where to eat! Tlaquepaque is a very popular location in Sedona for shopping and dining! It’s an arts and shopping village where you can find handmade local goods as well as high end clothing, art, and decor. It’s modeled after a the town of the same name in Mexico and it’s been a Sedona landmark since the 70’s. The architecture is beautiful and it’s a great spot to spend an afternoon exploring. We had a great lunch at The Secret Garden cafe!

Freeform Coffee Roasters
I love checking out the local coffee shops whenever I am traveling and this one really stood out to me because of it’s unique modern interiors. Freeform Coffee Roasters is located just across the street from Tlaquepaque village so you can stop by before or after doing some shopping. The coffee and vibes were amazing, I especially loved their funky orange tile!
