It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a post about life, goals, or my personal thoughts so I thought it was about time to do an update! The past several years have been such a whirlwind for us! We moved to Nashville from Portland, OR, then moved to Pittsburgh, got engaged, and continued to grow our business all while living through this crazy pandemic. We moved to both locations hoping to be able to travel more easily and to find cheaper rent/houses than in the PNW, but both moves were expensive of course. For those of you that are new here or maybe missed it, we tried to buy a home when we first moved to Pittsburgh almost a year and a half ago now (watch this video here for the story) but we had to back out at the last minute unfortunately, which was super hard for me especially and it was definitely another financial set back.

The year we moved to Pittsburgh, Schyler proposed to me on a trip to New York City at Christmas (check out our engagement blog post here). Since then we’ve had many conversations about how, where, and when we should do our wedding. Schyler and I have been together for 8 years now and have talked about getting married countless times. For many years, I wasn’t sure what kind of a wedding I wanted. I had envisioned a beautiful, more traditional wedding in my head of course but without any financial help from parents, I didn’t know when or how we would be able to afford a wedding like that. Also, neither of us have a lot of family that we are close to or that we would want at our wedding and since they are so expensive it just seemed like a waste of money. We came to the conclusion that a destination wedding with an amazing honeymoon abroad would be more up our alley! We’ve gone back and forth on so many ideas but I think we are getting closer to figuring out what we want to do. It may end up just being an romantic elopement somewhere just the two of us, hopefully sometime in early 2023. I’ll definitely be sharing as much of it as a I can with you guys!

We’ve been saving for the wedding ever since our engagement, which is tough with life’s many expenses (especially as entrepreneurs) ,and decided to put saving for a house on the back burner. For many years saving for a house was the priority, but after being together for 8 years, we think we deserve to finally be able to celebrate our love in a special way! We ended up renewing the lease on our Pittsburgh loft apartment and we’re hoping to move into a rental home when the lease is up later this year. It will be so great to get into a rental home for a few years, where we can hopefully start our family while saving to buy a house! I’ve wanted to be a mom, ever since I can remember so I am so excited to finally be able to start that chapter of my life soon. I don’t know if we’ll make Pittsburgh our forever home but we’ll see where life takes us! 😉
