Our Stay At The Palomino Hotel In Ridgeway, Colorado

We recently returned from our family trip to Colorado, where we stayed at the most charming modern, western-themed boutique hotel in Ridgway—Hotel Palomino. The property looks like a little western town straight out of a movie set! Once an old western-style building known as “Trail Town,” it’s been thoughtfully upcycled by its owners, who are Ridgway locals, into a fresh and stylish hospitality concept. I absolutely love what they’ve done to breathe new life into the place!

The Courtyard
The entrance and courtyard areas of Hotel Palomino are full of charm—from the vintage wooden wagon out front to the western-style façade that looks straight out of the Old West. The outdoor fire pit was the perfect spot to unwind after a long day of exploring. Just across from the fire pit, there was a convenient amenities room where you could grab ice and other essentials. On the night we arrived, we enjoyed an incredible dinner right next door at Greenwoods, a Southern-style restaurant owned by the same folks right next door. It was the perfect way to kick off our stay!

The Room
The rooms at Hotel Palomino feature a super fun modern-western aesthetic, accented with bespoke antique touches—like a gallery wall showcasing stirrups, horseshoes, and reins. Each room has been beautifully renovated, with details like a sleek tile shower, a farmhouse-style vanity sink, updated flooring, and more. The artwork, created by local artist Bob DeJulio, adds a unique and personal touch. With energy-efficient heating and cooling, Energy Star-rated appliances, and a convenient mini fridge and coffee bar, the room had everything we could possibly need. There was even a daybed—something we didn’t end up using since Sage slept in a travel crib—but it was great to have the extra space to spread out outfits and stay organized.
