Andrew and I loved this boutique hotel in Venice beach, Gjelina Hotel. The eclectic interiors felt like art deco style meets French countryside, and we were obsessed! With beautiful courtyard areas, a balcony with an ocean view, and a gorgeous lobby, it felt like we were stepping into a different world. It was such a dreamy hotel, and we had an amazing time during our stay there. We wished we could have stayed for at least a week! I will be sharing more of our experience at Gjelina in this blog post.

Gjelina is a hotel, guesthouse, and event space. It’s the newest addition to the Gjelina Group, which includes Gjelina restaurant, Gjusta Bakery, Gjusta Grocer, and Gjusta Goods, their home goods and floral shop. Each business has been exceptionally designed with the customer experience in mind. Gjelina Hotel is no exception! I loved the beautiful lobby reception area with a communal table and a beautiful counter that reminded me of something you would see in Europe.

The Courtyard

Gjelina Hotel is located one block from Venice Beach and the boardwalk, which means you have an ocean view from their balcony. Just like the rest of the hotel, the balcony has been beautifully designed with gorgeous benches, planters, and seating areas that have a rustic, “worn in” feel to them. The courtyard area you walk through to get from the rooms to the lobby is just as well-thought out! I could see guests having a picnic on the balcony during the warm months, or sitting outside for their morning cup of coffee.

When we arrived at our room, Andrew and I were stunned by how beautiful it was. We were equally (if not more) impressed when we saw a loaf of bread, trail mix, and chocolate chip cookies sitting on the counter from their sister bakery, Gjusta Bakery. It was such a homey touch, and just an example of their above and beyond hospitality! The fridge was stocked with butter and milk from Gjusta Grocer, I’m assuming, as well as their coffee and tea, which were displayed on the kitchen shelves. I was obsessed with the kitchen interiors, and I gathered a ton of inspiration for what I want in our future home someday. We had a suite with a gorgeous claw-foot bath tub that I sadly did not have time to use, but it was pretty to look at! The living room area had a built-in bench that wrapped around the bay window, and the dining table was perfect for entertaining guests. My sister, who lives in Los Angeles, also joined us. We had a great “night in” with her, enjoying the bread and cookies left for us.

In the morning, we were able to use the breakfast tickets they left us for a free pastry and coffee from Gjusta Bakery. They were kind enough to give us several! We walked a few blocks further to Gjusta Bakery, which was a beautiful European-style bakery. It’s extremely popular with the locals, clearly, because it was packed! After we grabbed our pastries and coffee, we chose to walk down to Venice Beach where we had a little beach side picnic while people watching. It was a perfect morning!

If you are planning a trip to Los Angeles, I definitely recommend this one-of-a-kind hotel!
