Two Magical Days In Venice, Italy With Our Toddler

As our three-week honeymoon adventure through Italy was winding down, we arrived in Venice for one of the final stops on our journey. We were staying on the colorful island of Burano at Casa Burano, which made for the perfect home base. After a big breakfast at the hotel, we boarded a boat and headed into Venice for our first full day of exploring. This was my second visit to Venice—I had only spent half a day there years ago—so I was excited to experience more of the city and share its beauty with my husband for the first time. Even before we reached the historic center, the anticipation of wandering through the canals, bridges, and winding streets made the day feel special.

Over the course of two full days, we packed in many of Venice’s most iconic sights. We visited Ponte de Guglie, admired the grandeur of Doge’s Palace, crossed the famous Ponte di Rialto, stopped at the Bridge of Sighs, and explored the breathtaking Saint Mark’s Basilica. One of my favorite moments was a peaceful afternoon break at SirBaf, a beautiful bistro in the Cannaregio district, where we enjoyed coffee and pastries while Sage napped. Later, we grabbed pizza from Farini near St. Mark’s Square and spent time browsing the charming streets, including a fun stop at Vintageria Venezia, a vintage shop we stumbled upon near the square. To end the day, we treated ourselves to gelato from Gelato di Natura and sat beside a canal watching gondolas glide past as the evening light reflected off the water—a simple but unforgettable Venice moment.

Venice completely charmed us. Despite the crowds—even in October—the city felt magical, and my husband absolutely loved it. There is something timeless about getting lost among the canals, discovering hidden corners, and soaking in the history around every turn. Sharing those experiences together as newlyweds, while also making memories with our toddler, made our time there even more meaningful. Venice was the perfect way to close out our Italian honeymoon, and it’s a place we’ll always look back on with fondness.
XOXO
