10 Unique Stores in Portland
One of my favorite things to do on weekends is to explore unique, local stores in Portland. I love to browse through these shops, gather design inspiration, and support local businesses. Many of these stores support other local artisans and focus on sustainable and quality made products. You can be assured that anything you buy from these stores will be unique and one of a kind! If you are visiting Portland soon, this is a great list to refer to for some great shopping spots. A few of these stores even have online shops for those outside the Portland area!
Mantel PDX
Mantel is the cutest home goods store located in the north Portland Kenton neighborhood. The shop features hand crafted goods from both local and regional makers. You can find everything from ceramics and throw pillows to jewelry and essential oils. Karen, the owner of the shop, is super friendly and has a great eye for design. She has curated the shop with the perfect mix of modern and vintage pieces. I would love one of everything in my apartment! If you’re feeling hungry, right next door to Mantel is a really cute bakery called Posie’s Bakery & Cafe.
WM Goods
WM Goods is a trendy urban fashion boutique in downtown Portland. WM offers fashionable women’s clothing from local and indie designers. They sell more than just trendy clothing; WM also sells cute gifts and home decor. If you are looking for a unique, one of a kind gift for a friend or family member, you are sure to find one here! I love the hanging basket chair and open shelves in the back of the store. While in the neighborhood, make sure to stop by Heart Coffee Roasters on 12th Ave.
Field Trip
Field Trip on Division St. is a must visit. At this local lifestyle boutique you can shop for skin and beauty products, gifts, and home wares. Field trip also offers workshops to help bring local makers and creatives together. I love the stunning macrame hanging behind the front desk and the beautiful graphic wall painting. Best of all, there is a super cute coffee bar in the store so you can sip on coffee while you shop!
Seven Sisters PDX
Seven Sisters is a unique boutique on Burnside with a collection of sustainably made clothing, quality home decor and beautiful jewelry. Seven Sisters supports small, women owned businesses. All of the pieces sold in the store are made by women designers and are ethically and sustainably produced. By shopping at Seven Sisters, you are supporting local businesses and sustainability.
Maak Lab
Maak Lab is a unique scent lab in downtown Portland on Burnside next to Hot Lips pizza. It’s a little tricky to spot; I walked by it a few times before discovering it. Maak Lab features scents that capturing essence of Portland and the Pacific Northwest. They source their natural ingredients from local farms and sustainable sources. Their space is absolutely stunning with geometric open shelves, beautiful scent bottles, and plants. I highly recommend stopping by to find your new scent!
Shop Boswell
Shop Boswell sells fashionable women’s apparel, accessories, and hats. The owner, Brookes Boswell, is a hat designer and has curated the shop with quality items that compliment her hats perfectly. I love their bright and well lit space. You can find Shop Boswell in SE Portland on Morrison St. Not visiting Portland soon? Don’t worry! You can also shop the items on their website.
Spartan Shop
Spartan Shop is located in SE Portland on the intersection of SE Grand and SE Salmon St. The shop is located in a beautiful, open and light space. Spartan offers a range of unusual home wares, lighting, art, and furniture. The shop is also a practicing studio with designers who style commercial and residential spaces. There are a ton of beautiful items I would love to own! Just down the street from Spartan Shop is Figlia Americana, a fairly new and super cute coffee shop.
I Am That
I Am That is a new shop on Hawthorne Street; a popular shopping neighborhood in SE Portland. With a perfect curation of trendy vintage clothing and shoes, this shop fits in perfectly with the rest of Hawthorne’s thrift stores. I love this bright and open space with white walls and pops of brightly colored decor and colorful clothing. If you want to shop for a more finely curated assortment of vintage clothing, then this shop is definitely worth browsing. You can also shop their clothing and shoes online.
Worn Path
Worn Path is one of my favorite stores on Mississippi Ave in north Portland, offering a variety of goods to shop from such as books, clothing, and locally made items. They also sell trendy outdoor equipment like backpacks, knives, apparel, and even skate board decks. This is a fun spot for outdoor lovers to shop from! There’s something for everyone in Portland.
North of West
North of West is another hip new shop in downtown Portland near Powell’s Books. North focuses on clothing and accessories with some home goods too. The shop is a collaboration of five designers, showcasing their lines; Make It Good, Nell & Mary, and Pigeon Toe. These designers focus on the design process and intentional small batch manufacturing. Their space is very well curated and designed and I love the way they have displayed their goods.
