At the end of September I went on a trip to California with my parents who live in the Phoenix area. My sister Rocio was able to join us for the first half of the trip before heading back to Los Angeles. My mom wanted to explore the beaches in California while staying at a hotel in Escondido for the week. All three of them have been to San Diego several times but since I had never visited, they decided to take me around the city for the day. At almost 6 months pregnant, I was proud of myself for doing so much walking and exploring. I had to drink a ton of water, tried to keep the sun out of my face, and take some breaks for sure. I was able to get a pretty good feel of San Diego in a short amount of time so I thought I would share a few things to do there!

La Jolla

The La Jolla area of San Diego is absolutely gorgeous! We walked along the ocean trail, saw the most beautiful views, and so many sea lions and birds basking on the rocks. We walked down some stairs and found the most beautiful cove! I’m not sure what it was called, I think it might have been La Jolla Cove, but the La Valencia hotel was directly ahead of it. My sister Rocio took some maternity swim photos for me in the cove and I love how they turned out! I was a little over 5 1/2 months pregnant in these shots.

La Valencia Hotel

My parents and sister had been to this beautiful hotel before so they decided we should have dinner and watch the sunset from there! The historic La Valencia is known as La Jolla’s “Pink Lady” and she makes quite the impression with her stunning architecture. The views from the balcony where we ate were spectacular and we all agreed the meal was amazing. It was definitely a memory I will never forget!

Balboa Park

The Spanish style architecture around every corner in Balboa Park is truly stunning! There is so much to do in this park with museums, restaurants, and more but we really just went to walk around and admire the buildings. I loved the pretty water fountains and the amazing church at the end of the strip.

Hotel Del Coronado

My parent’s loved visiting this hotel on one of their trips to San Diego and I can definitely see why! The historic architecture and interiors of Hotel Del Coronado is just impeccable. It’s a beach resort so it’s right on the water with several restaurants and even boutiques to explore. We ate lunch while looking out at the waves and the beachgoers. This would be such an amazing hotel to stay at for sure and I loved exploring it!

Old Town San Diego

We ended the day in Old Town San Diego, another fun area to explore! There is actually a strip with lots of restaurants and shops that lead up to Old Town which looks like a little, old, western town and stretches a few blocks. I loved the western feel of Old Town and the Spanish influence everywhere in the architecture and the shops. We ate dinner at a Mexican restaurant there before heading back to our hotel in Escondido.

XOXO
