Arezzo was one of those places we didn’t plan to fall in love with — and somehow did anyway. We visited during our honeymoon with our toddler, and from the moment we arrived, it felt quietly special. The golden stone buildings, layered history, and small-town pace made it feel like a place where everyday life and beauty exist side by side. Lucky for us, we got to experience Arezzo’s incredible antique market, which made our visit feel even more special.

We happened to be in town during Arezzo’s famous monthly antique market, which completely transforms the city. Hundreds of antique vendors fill Piazza Grande and spill into nearly every surrounding street, making it feel like one giant open-air treasure hunt. Every corner held something different — old books, art, furniture, and one-of-a-kind pieces you just don’t see anymore. We wandered slowly, stopped often, and squeezed in family photos whenever it felt right. Between antique stalls, we ducked into small boutiques and coffee shops, grabbing quick espressos and letting our toddler reset before continuing on. One of my favorite finds of the day was an incredible men’s vintage clothing shop — the kind of place you wish you could pack into your suitcase and bring home with you. Arezzo felt effortlessly cool in that way: historic, creative, and full of unexpected gems.

By the end of the day, tired and happy, we were already saying we’d be back — especially when we move to Italy. When that happens, we’re fully planning a return trip during this antique market to shop for our home, because there’s no better place to find pieces with soul and stories behind them. Arezzo wasn’t just a beautiful stop on our honeymoon — it felt like a glimpse into a future we’re dreaming about, and the perfect place to begin my Italy series.
