I wanted to do a maternity lingerie style photo shoot inspired by one that I did last year while I was still living in Pittsburgh! I’ve linked that blog post here if you guys want to check that out but I wore the same lingerie set and Levi jeans. I did the same thing with a swimsuit photo shoot I did in Malibu a few months before my pregnancy began here and one at 6 months pregnant here wearing the same swimsuit in La Jolla. I thought it was a fun way of looking back at how much my body has changed during pregnancy and honoring my body both before and after!

My sister shot these photos for me in my bedroom at my parent’s house last month while she was visiting for Thanksgiving. I was in my seventh month of pregnancy at this time! I had not tried on the lingerie set beforehand so I was so relieved that it still fit even though it was a bit of a tight squeeze compared to my pre-pregnancy body of course lol. I was able to wear these Levi jeans until I reached my second trimester but I thought they would look cute unbuttoned like I’ve seen in other maternity photos. I also took some photos in this Levi’s denim jacket for some variation!

Get The Look

When we first started shooting these photos I felt very vulnerable and I had a rush of so many different emotions… I had always thought I would be shooting photos like these with my partner. My sister did a great job of hyping me up and telling me how amazing I looked which also made me sad because I had my partner saying that every day up until our very unexpected split a little over halfway through my pregnancy. It was such a huge loss for me not being able to have the joyous pregnancy I always dreamed of with a partner let alone the loss of the partner/family I thought I was going to have. But once my sister Rocio started showing me a few of the shots, I started feeling more beautiful and confident and I was able to push those feelings aside because I deserved to feel that way especially in that moment. My pregnancy has gone so differently that I imagined it would in so many ways, but it really has been such a beautiful and remarkable experience watching my baby grow although scary, strange, and uncomfortable all at the same time as well.

Even though the happy pregnancy with a partner I thought I would have was no longer a reality for me anymore, I know what this baby and I were meant for each other. He has already made me so much stronger and every time I feel him move in my belly I feel proud and happy because I just can’t wait to meet him!
