A Day In Flagstaff, AZ: Where To Eat & What To Do
In late October my parents and I took a trip to northern Arizona to see the fall leaves. None of us had been to Flagstaff before and it’s such a quick road trip from the Oak Creek area of Sedona where we were staying in a cabin for five days, that we decided to spend one of those days exploring this cute town. We really enjoyed exploring the area and plan on going back next year and bringing baby boy too! In this blog post, I’m sharing some of the restaurants, boutiques, and things we did while visiting Flagstaff.
What To Do
Aspen Loop Trail
My parents and I were really hoping to see some fall colors and we found just that at Aspen Loop Trail near Flagstaff. We made it just in time as many of the colorful leaves had already fallen off the Aspen trees. We drove all the way to the top where there is a ski resort. There are also several hikes throughout the area. It was such a stunning place to see and the drive there and back was beautiful!
Historic Downtown
While in Flagstaff, you will definitely want to explore the historic downtown area. That’s where you will find cute boutiques, restaurants, coffee shops, and more as well as several historical buildings like the Hotel Monte Vista. There are also a lot of colorful murals scattered in this area which I always love finding. I photographed a few above, the Let There Be Flight Mural and the.
Old Town Shops
In the heart of downtown, you will find a little shopping mall with 10 independently owned boutiques and restaurants called the Old Town Shops. I absolutely loved the neutral aesthetic of a coffee shop and boutique called Mixx (photographed below). There is a really fun boutique located on the basement level with a barbecue restaurant and even a fish pond! It’s definitely worth checking out if you love to shop local. Located on the corner of Birch & Leroux!
Where To Eat
Mixx
I loved the neutral vibes of this part coffee shop, part boutique called Mixx! They also offer health conscious sanwhiches and bites with several places to sit before or after browsing through their curated selection of local artisan products. It’s the perfect spot to work remotely, shop for something unique, or to grab a coffee with a friend before doing a little shopping through the Old Town Shops.
Proper Meats & Provisions
If you are meat lover then you will want to dine at this local butcher shop meats neighborhood eatery! Proper Meats & Provisions offers more than just farm raised meats though. They also carry a selection of local cheeses, fresh baked bread, jams, and more pantry items. You can also find house made soups and salads if that’s more of your thing. I really loved the old school deli shop vibes of the interiors too!
Petit Marche
We popped into Petit Marche to check it out before deciding to come back and have a quick lunch at this adorable french inspired market, bakery, and coffee shop! It’s located in a co-working building with the market half on one side of the entry way and bakery/coffee shop located on the other. If you love artisan foods, you can find a great selection here to stock your fridge with some unique items and their coffee, pastries, and sandwhiches were superb!
