A Mini Travel Guide To Aspen, Colorado
My favorite town that we visited during our Colorado trip definitely has to be Aspen. I have always wanted to visit Aspen which is known for being a popular winter destination. Even though we visited in the spring so we didn’t get those classic winter vibes, it was such a perfect day with gorgeous weather. The cherry blossoms were in bloom and the beautiful historic downtown Aspen was so charming. We drove up from Breckenridge, about a 3 hour drive (with traffic) from the hotel where we were staying. In this blog post, I am sharing the spots we visited during our day in this popular Colorado tourist destination.
Where To Eat
Bear Den
On the drive to Aspen I did a quick Google search to find a cute restaurant for lunch and found Bear Den. It’s situated in the cutest little house, renovated to accommodate a restaurant space, right in downtown Aspen. We had lunch around noon and it was very low key with only a few other diners so it was a very relaxing lunch in an impeccably designed space. I loved the gorgeous interiors with unique details around every corner. The furs and pillows in the intimate setting definitely made it feel like a “bear den”. My dad loved the Wagyu dish and I had a lovely latte, pain au chocolate, and a breakfast sandwich with fries.

Paradise Bakery
We stopped at Paradise Bakery for some ice cream and coffee. I had read online how popular this spot was and they definitely got it right and for good reason! The ice cream was phenomenal and I love that they topped our scoops with a teeny tiny chocolate chip cookie, also divine. We sat outside the bakery enjoying our ice cream in the son along with many others who had the same idea. We sat on a bench with views of the mountain, the perfect spot while enjoying a sweet treat in this mountain town.

Where To Shop
Ralph Lauren
Aspen is known for it’s high end shopping like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, etc. but we really enjoyed the rustic feel of the Ralph Lauren shop in downtown Aspen. The rock fireplace and antique decorations really gave it an authentic, historic Colorado feel. The rustic vibes compliment the classic, all American style of the famous brand perfectly. The building it’s in is beautiful too.

Kemo Sabe
This custom hat shop, Kemo Sabe, has become very popular after being featured on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which is actually where I first saw it! I was excited to pop in when I knew we were going to be visiting Aspen. The vibes in this boutique were really fun, kind of like 90’s country vibes. They have everything from cowboy boots, to jewelry, rugs, and tons of custom pieces to add to hats. The shop was very busy when we visited but it was fun checking it out and my dad actually ended up buying a few feathers for his many cowboy hats. The owner was super friendly as well!

What To Do
Historic Downtown Aspen
We spent most of our time walking down all of the beautiful streets in historic downtown Aspen. I loved the old buildings that date back to the 1800’s, many of which are in the Queen Anne style. Set in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, Aspen is a destination ski resort town with year round outdoor recreational activities as well as high end shopping and dining. It’s a very walkable town with a lot of charm. We also drove around some of the Aspen neighborhoods and loved all the cute cottages and original homes so much! It would be the perfect town to rent a cute Airbnb cottage in.
Hotel Jerome
This historic hotel dates back to 1889 and has been a major social hub in Aspen since then. The old building is beautiful but the interiors are absolutely immaculate! Hotel Jerome is a luxury hotel that has recently been renovated, with a spa and world class cuisine. There is a gorgeous coffee shop, Felix Coffee which wasn’t open when we visited, but it would be a great spot for an afternoon coffee if you just want to check out the hotel!

Maroon Bells
On our way back to Breckenridge, we took a detour to the famous Maroon Bells, just 30 min outside of Aspen and very easy to get to. The mountain setting is absolutely stunning and I love the photos of my son Sage Wylder and I that my mom took. There is a trail you can take along the lake which we didn’t do because it was too cold for baby Sage, but I’m sure it was beautiful if you have the time!
