Our Christmas photos look a little different this year! We usually head to the Christmas tree farm but decided to take photos at home instead with Indio and I actually love how they turned out! My sister is coming to visit us this Christmas so I wanted to make our apartment extra cozy and special for the holiday! My interior decor style is bohemian meets mid-century modern and it can be hard to find Christmas ornaments that fit that style so I ended up making my own DIY ornaments and decorating around those.

I made three styles of ornaments; clay, wood beads, and tassel ornaments. I was inspired by a photo of clay rainbow ornaments on Pinterests so I decided to make my own variation of those with some air hardening clay, string, and nail polish. I ended up making round “ball” ornaments out of the clay and little triangular ones too! I love the minimal style of the wood bead ornaments and the tassels ornaments too. The all looked so great together and very bohemian so they tie in with my apartment perfectly! I also decorated my tree with 2 styles of wood bead garland, one in a brown town and one in a natural tone.

I also hung garland in the doorways of our hallway which I think ended up looking amazing and really adds a lot of visual interest! I’m going to be sad when I have to take them down lol! I had a ton of fun hanging my DIY ornaments from the garlands as well, something we always did when I was growing up and I plan on continuing! My abuelita, who lived with us when I was growing up, was super crafty and made tons of DIY Christmas ornaments for us, so many that we had to get creative with where we displayed them and the garlands ended up being one of them. I think it will be a fun tradition!

Get Our Looks

I recently had this shelf installed in my kitchen and while I was waiting for it to be installed, I kept visualizing how amazing it would look with a Christmas garland. It turned out exactly like I had visualized. I wrapped the garland with a wood bead garland that really gives it that bohemian feel and added some mini wood Christmas trees to the shelf for the perfect final touch.

Schyler and Indio both agreed that our apartment is super cozy for the holidays and my sister’s arrival. We love how it turned out and I can’t wait to decorate again next year!
