Boho Valentine’s Bead Garland DIY

The idea for this garland came to me one night before bed, as so many of my creative ideas do lol, and I knew I had to make it. It’s so hard to find Valentine’s decor that isn’t just red or pink. I wanted to make something that was a little more neutral that would look cute in my boho chic apartment and it turned out so well, I had to share a little DIY tutorial on it!

What You’ll Need

I love a DIY that doesn’t require a ton of materials. This garland only uses 3, all you need is a pair of scissors, twine, and wood beads! I bought the twine and beads which I didn’t have on hand at Walmart, but you can find them on Amazon too. My bead set came with a bunch of different bead sizes and colors so I had fun coming up with my own pattern. This DIY is super easy to customize and make it your own with colors and patterns!

Step One

Start by measuring out your string of twine until it’s the length that you would like your garland to be then start stringing your beads! You can have fun with this part, I tried a few different patterns based on the beads I had available. I chose to use brown, orange, natural, and pink beads for a fun, neutral Valentine’s garland that would look cute in my boho chic home!

Step Two

I wanted to make fun little tassels for this garland to! I took my scissors and cut 8 pieces of string, measured at the same length, and one extra, shorter string to make the tassels. After each bead pattern of 11 beads, I folded the string bundle over the string and used the short string to secure it in place on the garland with a knot. Then I trimmed the ends off to make the tassels the length I wanted! I repeated the pattern until my garland was at the length I needed for my kitchen shelf.

I also tied a knot at each end to keep the beads from sliding off and hung it up on my shelf! Right now my plates are acting as weights to keep the garland in place but I’ll be getting something to secure them in place.

I love the way this garland turned out! It’s neutral, while still fun for Valentine’s day, plus it looks so cute with all the boho decor in my kitchen!
