Day Trip Essentials: What I Never Leave Home Without
Thank you Amazon for sponsoring this post. Where will adventure take you and your Kindle device this summer?
During the summer months, I love to take day trips to the beautiful Mt. Hood area. It’s about an hour drive from Portland so its super quick, but instantly transports you into a Pacific Northwest wonderland. My favorite spot to visit is Trillium Lake. On days where it’s not overcast you can see Mt. Hood in the background! There are several trails to walk or hike in the area too. I went up for the day this past weekend with my sister and our friend for our first hike of the season.
Some of the day trip essentials I took with me are:
A good backpack: I like to bring a backpack that can fit all of my essentials and a sweater in case the weather changes!
Water bottle: You should always bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during summer adventures! Especially during activities like hikes and bike rides.
A camera: I like to bring the vintage film camera that my mom gave me! An iPhone is great too.
Snacks: I always throw a protein bar in my backpack to snack on in case I get hungry. They are so convenient!
My Kindle: I love reading outside during the summer months! I brought my new kindle with me so that I could take a reading break while enjoying the nature around me. I used to bring hard back books with me but the Kindle is so light-weight and super easy to toss in my backpack!
I’ve always wanted an e-reader and luckily for me, the new Kindle is Amazon’s most affordable e-reader yet at less than $100! It even comes with an adjustable front light so you can read comfortably during any time, day or night. The new design is thin and light-weight which makes it super easy for tossing in a backpack or purse.
Plus, you can try out Kindle Unlimited for free for three months! With Kindle Unlimited, you can enjoy unlimited access to millions of books. After the three months is up, Kindle Unlimited is only $9.99 a month!
When I became a full-time content creator, I was a workaholic and I pushed aside “me time”. I was a stressed-mess! After doing some soul-searching, I realized it was healthy and so important to take time off work. Getting outside in nature and reading a good book are two things that always help me re-charge. Both of these activities help with your mental health too!
I love easy-reads that make me laugh, love stories, and fantasies! Some of the books I’m reading on my Kindle right now are The Overdue Life of Amy Byler and P.S. from Paris.
What are your favorite road trips? Road trip essentials? Also, if any of you have a Kindle, I would love your book recommendations!
