Focusing On Mental Health With Yoga & Meditation
Over the past few years I’ve been doing a lot of work on my mental health, physical health, and overall wellness. I have always been an anxious person but I also struggle with depression and PTSD due to childhood traumas. One thing I’ve always known since I was a little girl is that I want to be a mommy (very badly), which is why I felt it was important to start putting in extra work into healing those emotional scars, so I can be the best version of myself for my child. I still have a lot of work to do, it’s definitely a journey and it may take years to really “heal” some childhood wounds, but I’m proud of myself for making it a priority. We hope to start our family very soon, so I’m going to be focusing in on this even more.
A few practices that have really helped me with anxiety and staying grounded are yoga & meditation. I’ve always loved yoga but meditation definitely took me awhile to get the hang of but now that I have I love it. The more I practice both of these activities, the more benefits I feel. In Pittsburgh I was doing both everyday but once we started the move and since we’ve moved back to Eastern Washington, our routine has been so crazy. I’m getting back into my practice now that our routine has settled down a bit after our big move across the country from Pittsburgh. It’s especially helpful during this transitional period of our lives. Schyler and I have also started running again, something I’ve never loved doing, but it’s the kind of exercise that is actually really good for mental health so I’m really glad we’re doing it. We’ve also been going on a lot of nature walks in the area which Indio has been absolutely loving! I love those little family moments together throughout the week.

I plan on sharing a life update style post soon sharing more about our move and future (constantly changing) plans.
