Baby boy was born January 31st in an emergency c-s

Baby boy was born January 31st in an emergency c-section at 12:30 am. At 41 weeks, I still wasn’t dilating which I believe was due to all the stress going on in my life unfortunately (not enough oxytocin to go into labor naturally). Everything that could have gone wrong with my induced labor and delivery did. I ended up laboring for nearly 3 days, only to find out that my baby was too big for my pelvis and that his head was coming out in a bad position, which is why I had to have a c-section. The surgery was extremely traumatic and painful for me, thank God I had my mom there for support. We made it to our postpartum recovery room at 4 am, only for baby to be taken away to the NICU 4 hours later. Every pregnancy related fear I ever had, had come true. He had low blood sugar due to a shot they gave me twice to stop my contractions when he was under stress which I had no idea could be a result. He was in the NICU for 3 days. I went down there every 3 hours, no matter how sleep deprived I was or how much pain I was in, to breast feed him/have skin to skin and in between I pumped colostrum to send down to him because I didn’t want my breastfeeding journey to have to come to an end early. I really thought that since I had such an *easy* pregnancy, that my labor and delivery would be too, but that wasn’t the case unfortunately. Postpartum recovery from a c-section is no joke and it was so scary seeing him hooked up to all those machines in NICU. It’s sad because I didn’t want that to be our birth story, I wanted to be able to share a happy story with all the mommas out there who have followed along with me! We finally made it home after almost a week at the hospital and I’m so thankful 🧡👶
