I thought it was about time to share another life update on here with you guys and just in time because we finally decided to move forward on something we have been talking about for over a year now… the boys and I are moving to Las Vegas! I know it seems kind of sudden, but we have been deliberating this move for months now for so many reasons, so I thought I would spill the details in this blog post! Although it’s the holidays and the next few weeks are going to be crazy with this move, it will be so worth it and we can’t wait to “put down roots” there.

A Little Background On Us

For those of you that are new here, my fiance Schyler and I have been together for over 8 years now and we are originally from the PNW area. After living in Portland, OR for about 5 years, we moved to Nashville (our labradoodle Indio in tow) with only our car + a few belongings, and then Pittsburgh where we have now lived for over 2 years. During that time we’ve been able to travel & see what living is like in other parts of the country, and it’s allowed me to create a lot of great content on my social media platforms! Before we moved across the country to Nashville, Las Vegas was actually very high on our list of cities we were interested in moving to.

Why Las Vegas?

There are so many reasons why we decided Las Vegas was the right move for us but here are a few:

It’s sunny almost all year round! Portland, Nashville, and Pittsburgh all have one thing in common, there are many days of the year where they don’t have any sun. It’s especially bad in Pittsburgh which is hard for me because I need natural light to shoot all the content I create for my brand The Urban Darling and for brand partners. It will be so nice to wake up everyday and not stress because there will pretty much always be sun (for the most part). Bonus: it will be amazing for my mental health which I have been struggling with.

I love the desert vibes there. For quite some time now, I’ve really been drawn to the desert. That’s where I see myself raising a family for some reason and naturally Las Vegas fits the bill. Plus it’s close to other amazing desert destinations like the Valley Of Fire and Red Rock Canyon, both of which are super close! I think it will be so fun to decorate a Vegas apartment in a new boho aesthetic inspired by the desert.

It’s closer to family. Schyler and I really want to try and start our family in 2023! Las Vegas is much closer to both of our families so that will be good. We can at least drive instead of having to book a flight if we want to visit now lol. Also, my sister lives in Los Angeles which is only a 4 hour drive away so we will get to see each other a lot more!

There are more opportunities there for both of us as entrepreneurs! Las Vegas has a really great economy and it’s the entertainment capital of our country. It’s a very popular city for tourists worldwide which means there is always something going on there which will be great for brand partnerships, promotions, and travel content for my platforms. It’s also very close to Los Angeles which also has a lot of opportunities for bloggers/content creators too!

It’s close to so many travel destinations! Besides Red Rock Canyon and the Valley Of Fire, Las Vegas is also very close to Los Angeles, Joshua Tree, the Grand Canyon and so many other amazing destinations I can’t wait to road trip to! I’m especially excited to further explore the Southwest parts of the country.

When Are We Moving?

We are planning on moving out and starting the drive across the country at the end of the year into the beginning of next year and we will be staying with family for a weeks. We plan on touring Las Vegas apartments and hopefully finding a rental home after saving up for a bit! We also need to squeeze in our wedding (more on that soon ;P). I’ve already started selling furniture and donating items because we are once again moving across the country with only the decor and clothes we can fit in our car. The move will probably take us about a week driving! It’s going to be crazy these next few months but I am so excited for all of these amazing changes and of course getting closer to our goal of growing our little family!
