I am finally getting around to sharing this blog post that I have been meaning to sit down and write! If you have been following along on our moving journey here on the blog or on socials, you may be wondering what happened to our plan to leave Pittsburgh and move to Las Vegas! You can read more about the pros and cons of this decision in this blog post here. I’ve addressed this on my Instagram here and in this YouTube vlog that Schyler and I filmed, but I wanted to share a life update on here as well as I have gotten so many questions about it!

Our plan after leaving Pittsburgh was to look for Vegas rental homes for a month or so while staying at Schyler’s dad’s house in our hometown of Tri-Cities, WA. We had not been able to make it back to visit in 3 years so we thought it would be a good opportunity to spend time with him as well. We moved away a little over 8 years ago and moved around the country to Portland, OR, Nashville, TN, and Pittsburgh, PA which was great for my blog as fas as gathering travel content but it definitely made it hard to visit family. It was also hard while we were living in different cities and really not knowing anyone or having family around in case something were to happen. It’s been so nice having Schyler’s dad around and it makes us feel more safe/secure for sure.

Once we got here, we were surprised by how much home had changed! So many cute spots have opened up in the area, which wasn’t the case when we left about 8 years ago and part of the reason why we left. After being here for about a month, we realized it would be so much easier to save for all the big things we want to do like our wedding, buying a house, and starting a family.

We went back and forth about it for a bit, but we decided the smarter (and most responsible for our future) thing to do would be to take advantage and stay for the time being. Even though Schyler isn’t able to continue playing online poker like he was in Pittsburgh, or would have been doing in Vegas, we are still saving more money then we would on an expensive rental home just with my brand (and paying a small amount of rent to Schyler’s dad). Right now Schyler and I are both focusing on my brand, The Urban Darling, which has been great. We still plan on moving to Las Vegas in the future but it’s on hold for now!
