Modern Bohemian DIY Wedding In Phoenix, AZ

With our sights set on saving for a home, we decided to pour creativity—not money—into our wedding decor. Every element was a DIY labor of love. After our son went to bed each night, Andrew and I would sit down to thrift, design, and plan together. Since we couldn’t get married in Italy, we brought the feeling of it to Arizona—warm, relaxed, and earthy. I leaned on my background in interior design to curate a modern bohemian aesthetic with neutrals, terracotta tones, and natural textures that felt effortlessly romantic.
We arranged all of the dried florals ourselves, blending muted blooms with golden grasses for a timeless look that required no maintenance (and survived the rainstorm beautifully). Most of our decor was thrifted—vases, candles, and tableware—each piece chosen intentionally to create an organic, lived-in feel. The Copper House, with its modern yet cozy atmosphere, became the perfect blank canvas for our vision, while rentals from Wood n Crate added warmth and texture through their rustic tables and chairs.
As a chef, Andrew poured his heart into creating our desserts, baking every cupcake and our wedding cake by hand. He chose flavors that felt comforting and personal, using simple, high-quality ingredients that spoke to our love of authenticity. The minimalist design echoed the earthy tones of our decor, adorned with subtle textures and natural touches. It was the sweetest reflection of him—thoughtful, understated, and made with so much care.
What made it all so special was the heart behind every detail. Each decision reflected us—our love of simplicity, sustainability, and creativity. We didn’t just design a wedding; we built an atmosphere that felt like home. Every corner told a piece of our story, from the handmade arrangements to the flicker of candlelight bouncing off thrifted glass. Despite the storm, everything came together perfectly, a reminder that beauty often blooms from the most imperfect moments.
