Over Thanksgiving weekend, my parent’s held a baby shower for me at their home in Phoenix where I have been living for the past several months now. We wanted to have the baby shower when my sister and sister in law were in town so it worked out that they could be there since they live in California and Oregon. My mom invited several of her friends from the community and it was so nice of them to come celebrate the baby and I! I spent several weeks prior to the baby shower getting all the decor together, coming up with ideas for the food, games, etc. My sister arrived early in the week to help me get things together and she, mom, and sister in law helped me get everything ready for the party the day of! The past few months have been very difficult after my partner of 10 years and I unfortunately parted ways. There were of course several moments that day that reminded me of that which was a little sad. But the baby and I deserved to be celebrated and I am so glad we were able to have a baby shower!

The Backdrop

I had a vision of how I wanted my baby shower to look in my head. I knew I wanted it to have a ‘boho chic” feel which I could accomplish with a lot of decor and pieces that I already had. You may recognize the wicker basket, ceramic vases, and dried floral from my boho engagement shoot. The side table is from Article and the velvet chair is an antique my parent’s have had for so long! I knew I wanted to have a balloon arch so my sister and I picked up a few balloon packs from Target and she, my mom, and sister in law helped blow up the balloons the morning of the party. My sister Rocio and I secured them to balloon tape and hung it on the wall in an arch. I found the “oh baby” balloon banner from Walmart which looks so cute hung up in the center and the dried florals and palm fans to the left really add that “boho” feel to this backdrop. It’s simple, but loved how it turned out and it was super affordable too!

The Food Table

My baby shower was on Saturday so on the evening of black Friday, my sister and I ran to Costco to pick up food for the baby shower. I knew I wanted to have a charcuterie spread and a cake so we picked up some cheese, meats, bread, fruits, spreads, and a tortilla roll up option as well. My mom bought several boxes of Ferrero Rocher chocolates so we had a platter of those and a delicious coconut cream vanilla cake too! I had several thrifted wood platters, cutting boards, and ceramic dishes already to display food with but my dad and I thrifted the glass pitcher, glass cake stand, and a couple extra wood cutting boards. We were running a little late so my sister helped me quickly spread the food out but it ended up looking so pretty! The food was delicious, I had several plates of it lol, and the cake was excellent. I couldn’t have been happier with it. The only thing was that I accidentally bought extra pulp orange juice for the mimosas lol!

The Outfit

I re-wore this dress from The Simple Folk that I wore for the pregnancy announcement photos my partner and I had taken several months back. I didn’t want to buy a new dress just for the baby shower and this dress really fit the vision I had in my end. The earth tone color is so beautiful, the linen fabric, the maxi style… it really gave me those “boho mama” vibes I was going for. I styled it with these cream ankle boots from Nisolo. It was crazy to see how much my belly had grown since those announcement photos and I really did feel beautiful in it that day!

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day for the baby shower! The sun was shining, the weather was perfect and everyone enjoyed themselves. We played some fun baby shower games and the winner of each game won a little prize (PR skincare products lol). We played a baby music game (every song had baby in it and you had to guess the song), a baby food tasting test with 4 jars of baby food, and an animal baby game where the guests had to match the baby animal with the adult animal (baby elephant is a calf, baby dear is a fawn, etc.). My sister gave me the idea of doing a diaper raffle which was such a great suggestion because I was able to get a ton of diapers for baby and the winner of the raffle won a very nice skincare set! It went so well and all of my guests were so generous gifting me items from my baby registry which I made on Babylist. The baby and I were very blessed!
