I started noticing my deep under eye circles in my late teens. They only got worse going into my early 20’s! I would always get people asking me if I was sick or saying that I looked really tired because of my under eye circles. I started to get really insecure about my eye circles especially when I wasn’t wearing any makeup. With my job as a content creator, I constantly see myself in photos and videos and I got sick of seeing those deep under eye circles. I tried every type of eye cream, cold spoons under the eyes, all the tricks! Nothing seemed to work. I started doing some research about it and that’s when I discovered under eye fillers.

On my recent trip to Los Angeles, I visited Dr. Rivkin at Westside Aesthetics to get under eye fillers. In this blog post, I am going to be covering the process and giving you more information about under eye fillers. I hope this blog post will be helpful to those considering under eye fillers!

Westside Aesthetics is located in downtown Los Angeles. Dr. Rivkin specializes in cosmetic surgery (like botox, fillers, etc.) and non-surgical rhinoplasty (non-surgical nose jobs). After looking through before and afters on their Instagram page and researching their website, I decided that this was the best place to get my under eye fillers at. Dr. Rivkin was very informative and made sure that my under eye fillers would look natural which is so important!

In these photos you can see the indentation under my eyes. Dark under eye circles, bags, etc. are usually genetic but they can also be worsened by lack of sleep, diet, etc. In my case, it’s genetic. My whole family and extended family has very severe under eye circles. I’m wearing makeup in these photos, without makeup my under eyes looked worse.

What are under eye fillers?

Under eye fillers are when a filler is injected in the area under your eyes to minimize under eye bags. Dr. Rivkin used a filler called Versa for my under eyes. Versa is a hyaluronic acid filler, which is supposed to help with swelling and puffiness under the eyes after getting the filler.

How much do under eye fillers cost?

This will depend on where you live or the location where you get fillers at. At Westside Aesthetics, it’s a flat fee starting at $1,500 for the procedure, regardless of how much filler is used. This includes the follow up injection.

Does it hurt to get under eye fillers? 

I did think the under eye fillers were a bit painful, but I have a low pain tolerance! They weren’t as bad as the lip fillers but worse then botox injections. There was a nurse there that tapped on my shoulders to distract me which helped. It was really quick though! I would say on a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 6.

No more severe bags under my eyes! I will be going in for a follow up soon where we may had a little more under eye filler.

How long do under eye fillers last?

Filler under the eyes can last for years because your body doesn’t metabolize or break down filler as quickly under the eyes. This will vary person to person. Dr. Rivkin said it can last for up to 6 years, which is amazing! One of the gals that works there said she’s had hers for 7 years!

What is the healing process like?

The day after I got the fillers, I was amazed by how great my under eyes looked! I had to use 2 layers of under eye concealer to hide the redness from the injections but overall the bruising wasn’t too bad. I had bruising for up to a week after the injections. The redness from the injection points went away before the bruising. I did end up getting puffy lumps where the injections were. I messaged a nurse who said this was common and told me to massage the lumps, avoid sodium, and take Benadryl to help with the lumps. It’s been about a month and the lumps are almost gone. Granted I haven’t been taking Benadryl or avoiding sodium (shame on me) but I have been massing them! If you want to avoid that I would definitely suggest doing all three 🙂

Do you recommend it?

Honestly, the under eye fillers made such a huge difference in not only my appearance but my confidence too! I used to feel like I looked dead or like a zombie before. I still have discoloration under my eyes but the indentation (or the” circles”) that used to be there are gone! I don’t even wear under eye concealer anymore (unless I’m shooting content) and I don’t see a zombie when I wake up and look in the mirror anymore. It’s a huge self confidence booster! 

That being said, I do not think people who have under eye circles are ugly or that under eye fillers are a necessity if you have bags under your eyes. It was something that personally bothered me and I really wanted to have done and it’s made a big difference for me!
