If you love music and retro vibes as much as I do, then you would love this hotel in downtown Phoenix, Egyptian Motor Hotel! My friend Elle and I stayed there for 3 nights during our girl’s trip and had an amazing stay. It’s an old mid century building that has been re-invisioned into this fun, boutique hotel. There are so many things to love about this hotel from the Egyptian Live Bar to the fabulous restaurant on the property, Chilte. In this blog post I am going to be highlighting the hotel for those of you who may be looking for a hotel to stay at while visiting Phoenix!

The Location

Egyptian Motor Hotel is located right in downtown Phoenix which is perfect for those flying in to Sky Harbor International Airport because it’s less than 10 min away on city roads. It’s very close to many popular Phoenix neighborhoods, museums, and easy access to highways. We spent a lot of our girls trip in Scottsdale which was easy to get to on city roads or the freeway. We also checked out a few spots near downtown Phoenix like Monsoon Market, A Flour Shop, and Valentine, which was super convenient because it was they were only a few minutes away in our car. It’s a great hotel for tourists as far as location!

Egyptian Live Bar is an outdoor bar and lounge area (that seats 250 people) right outside the hotel where you can listen to live music and enjoy inventive cocktails, cold brews, and food from Chilte. It’s the perfect spot for a night out or if you want to hang out while staying at the hotel. There is a pool located to the side of the area where you can also lounge while soaking up some sun during the day. You can also reserve parking in the lot in front of the hotel.

The Room

We couldn’t believe how spacious our room was! There was a little living room/lounge area with a coffee table and a 55″ LED Smart TV where we ate a few meals at while winding down and watching tv in the evenings after our busy days. There was also a little area in between the room and the bathroom with a retro mini fridge and microwave that were super cute. I loved the plaid tile on the bathroom wall which had a little corner shelf unit and walk in shower with a rain shower head and bath products from Lather. I loved the mid century style furniture and the special, groovy touches like the bead curtain to the side of the bedroom and the guitar in the corner of the room.

Chilte

Chilte has become a must try restaurant in Phoenix! It’s located right next to the lobby if you want to a special dining experience while staying at the hotel, but you can also order it or at Egyptian Live Bar. It was actually named “one of the best new restaurants of 2023” by Bon Appétit, and named to Esquire Magazine’s Best New Restaurant list for 2023. They serve new school, Mexican food in the evening and coffee and pastries in the morning. Their plates are super inventive and creative and the interiors were funky, chic, with fun latin vibes. We loved our dining experience there! My favorite dishes were the yuca fries and cheesecake, so good.

We had such an amazing stay at the hotel! The staff were super friendly and helpful and did everything they could to make sure we were happy. I definitely recommend this hotel if you are planning a trip to Phoenix. Book your stay at Egyptian Motor Hotel here.
