Portland’s Best Coffee Shops
Portland’s coffee scene is definitely one of the best! In all of my travels, I have yet to find another city that is a match to Portland’s aesthetically pleasing and (most importantly) yummy tasting coffee spots. Of course I may be a little biased 😉 There are so many great local coffee shops in the Portland area, but I’ve narrowed it down to a few of my favorites. Don’t you worry! This is only the first of many in this series; there are always plenty more coffee shops to talk about.
First off we will start with Good Coffee!
Good Coffee has two locations; the original location at 4747 SE Division St and the 1150 SE 12th Ave location. Both locations are equally lovely with their marble counters, wall art, and succulent filled shelves. I’m envious of their gorgeous plant collection at the 12th Ave location! The minimal, Pacific Northwestern aesthetic makes the designer in me happy.
At any time of day, you can expect Good to be filled with loyal customers sipping on their lattes, working on their laptops, or chatting with friends. Their hazelnut rose latte and chai latte are perfection! They also have a great selection of pastries; my favorites are the chocolate and almond croissants. You can always expect great service from their super friendly baristas.
Next on the list is Heart Coffee.
Heart Coffee has two locations as well. The original location at 2211 E Burnside St and the downtown location 537 SW 12th Ave. Heart offers green coffee from Central America, South America and Africa; all made in house.
Though I love the modern vibes at the downtown location with its white brick accent wall, gorgeous exposed wood ceiling, and concrete floors, the Burnside location is my favorite. I love the spaciousness of the original location and the unique (slightly creepy) art displayed on the walls of sharks, snake anatomy, and more. Both locations offer plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, so make yourself comfortable!
The vanilla latte is my drink of choice at Heart. If you happen to be hungry, they offer several tasty pastries. While you’re in the area, be sure to check out the super trendy boutique WM Goods. The popular restaurant Tasty n Alder is a great lunch and dinner spot just across the street from the downtown location.
Last but certainly not least is Coava Coffee.
Coava Coffee has two unique locations at 1300 SE Grand Ave and 2631 SE Hawthorne Blvd. Coava is one of my favorites because it is home to the best honey latte I have ever had (no joke)! Both locations have major industrial vibes with concrete floors, metal work, industrial seating, and wood countertops.
The Grand Ave location is large and spacious with lots of cool, old machinery to look at and a gorgeous wood wrapped bar. The Hawthorne location has a lounge area and beautiful art work to admire while waiting for your coffee. I love this location because it’s just down the street from one of my favorite brunch spots called Jam. Jam always has a long wait, so I like to sneak over to Coava for a honey latte to pass the time.
I like the name Coava. Reminds me of another famous caffe chain which I think you would like… we once had them here in Singapore as well. Lots of brass and $20 lattes.

I like it too; it’s a cool name for a coffee shop! Brass sounds right up my alley 🙂 So cool that you live in Singapore. Thanks for visiting!
