During my Los Angeles trip to visit my sister Rocio back in March, we stayed a night in Ojai and on our way back to LA, we stopped in beautiful Malibu for the day! I have always wanted to visit Malibu and my sister knew the best spots to go to so I am so glad we were able to make that happen. We lucked out with the most perfect weather that day, took so many photos, and saw the prettiest views and beaches. We also stopped by a few coffee shops which I will share in this post for those of you that are also looking for food/coffee recommendations. I will be sharing our trip to Ojai in my next blog post!

What We Did

El Matador Beach

El Matador Beach is a very popular spot in Malibu and for good reasons! The views walking down to the beach of the ocean, stunning beach houses, and the flower lined cliffside are absolutely stunning. I kept stopping every few feet to take photos/videos because it was just unreal. There weren’t a ton of people there in the morning when we visited which was really nice. We asked a group of friends to take a few photos of Rocio and took some of them on their camera in return. I love the way the photos of us turned out! We don’t get to take a ton of sister photos together now that we live so far apart, most of the photos we get to take are on travels and even then it’s hard because we usually have to ask strangers to take them lol. So I will definitely always treasure these! We were able to lounge on the beach for a little while before heading to the next spot we wanted see, Point Dume. What I really loved about this beach is that it was so easy to find parking because there was a huge lot with a machine you could use to pay for parking but Rocio actually ended up just using this app to pay. It made it so easy!

Point Dume

Unlike El Matador Beach, it was SO HARD trying to get parking at Point Dume. There was a very tiny parking strip that Rocio knew about it but cars were lined up there waiting for a spot. We ended up driving around a few times before giving up and parking far away in a neighborhood that wasn’t in a tow away zone which was not ideal because we had to walk for about 30 min before getting to the viewpoint. It was definitely worth it though for the views! There were these beautiful pathways lined with the prettiest wildflowers and we ended up finding a way down to a beach just below the viewpoint. There was actually a parking lot by the beach that Rocio didn’t know about so I would suggest doing some research before you go because that would be so much better for parking. Rocio took some swimsuit photos for me at the beach which I loved!

Malibu Country Mart

We didn’t get to spend any time shopping at Malibu Country Mart but I still wanted to include it because it’s definitely a popular shopping spot! They have so many amazing shops here, I wish we would have had more time to spend here before we had to head back to LA. But we did stop by to grab some coffee and bites from Alfred Coffee which I have included below!

Alfred Coffee

Alfred Coffee is a popular coffee chain with locations all over Los Angeles! We stopped by the Malibu location on our way back to Los Angeles where we had a reservation at the beautiful Hotel June. We were starving by the time we got here and their lattes and sandwiches definitely hit the spot! We thoroughly enjoyed those on our drive back. The location was super cool though, I loved the mid century modern vibe!

Saloon Coffee

We loved this coffee shop located on the Calamigos Ranch property, Saloon Coffee. This was our first stop in Malibu on the way back to Los Angeles from a night in Ojai, before we headed to the beach. We sat outside in the patio area with beautiful views of the ranch. I loved the western vibes and the shop itself was super cute and had indoor seating as well. The pastries and coffee were delicious and just what we needed to start our day in Malibu off right!

They have several beautiful hotels there and much more to discover then we were able to see on this trip. If you have any Malibu recommendations, please leave them below!
