What To Do In Birmingham, Alabama
This weekend we took our second road trip since moving to Nashville to Birmingham, Alabama! It was only about a 2 1/2 hour drive from home so we decided to do a quick day trip. We had such a fun day! Birmingham had a ton of cute shops, restaurants, and neighborhoods to explore. In this blog post I’m sharing all the spots we visited on our day trip!
What To Do
Birmingham Botanical Gardens
I can’t resist a botanical garden so we definitely had to stop by the Birmingham Botanical Garden, especially because it’s FREE! It’s pretty small so it’s perfect for a quick stop or you can make a whole thing of it and head to the outdoor gardens and the zoo too! They are right next door.
Sloss Furnaces
When I saw the Sloss Furnaces from the freeway I knew I wanted to do a quick photo shoot here! The Sloss Furnaces are a national historic landmark and industrial museum in Birmingham. You can tour the museum and the lot for FREE. It was super cool to see!
It’s Nice To Have You In Birmingham Mural
This super cute mural is located in downtown Birmingham. It’s only about a ten minute drive from the Sloss Furnaces! Parking downtown is operated by a coin machine and we paid about 50 cents to shoot here for 30 min. We found parking right on the street!
Woodlawn Mural
If you love murals, the Woodlawn Mural is another cute one! It’s located right next to the popular Woodlawn Cycling Cafe. Bungalow Bungalow and Club Duquette photographed below are cute shops we found in the Woodlawn Neighborhood.
Where To Shop
Bungalow Bungalow
We found this cute shop in the Woodlawn Neighborhood across the street from the Woodlawn Cycling Cafe! The candles there smelled absolutely amazing and the skin care products are made right in the shop. Loved the decor in there too!
Club Duqette
You guys know how I feel about my boho vibes and Club Duquette was serving them well! This shop had the cutest curated selection of clothes, home decor, and other cute goods. Located across the street from the Woodlawn Mural and definitely worth popping in to!
Urban Suburban
We stopped at a cute antique store called Avondale Antiques and the owner told us to head over to the Urban Suburban antique store! It was located in a strip mall in the Crestwood Neighborhood of Birmingham. Every shop in the strip mall was super cute with lots of vintage vibes! There was a bookstore, a barbershop turned record store, and a pharmacy with a milkshake bar. There was also a neat pizza joint called the Filling Station that used to be a gas station!
Where To Eat
Farm Bowl & Juice Co.
We didn’t get the chance to eat at Farm Bowl & Juice Co. since we ate across the street at Real & Rosemary, but it looked super cute with it’s adorable porch swings! The colorful mural photographed above was located on the side of the building.
Real & Rosemary
We had brunch at Real & Rosemary, a cafe with major farmhouse vibes. Every corner of this restaurant was super cute! Schyler had a burger (per usual) which he loved and I had a delicious cup of chicken chili with sweet potato fries. The food was delicious and we loved the ambience. Real & Rosemary is located in the Homewood Neighborhood, with tons of boutiques and shops to browse through before or after your meal!
