For Andrew’s birthday this year, we planned a special getaway to Sedona—a trip full of adventure, breathtaking views, and family moments we’ll always remember. Sedona’s famous red rocks and scenic trails set the perfect backdrop for celebrating Andrew, while Sage added his own little doses of excitement (and adorable mischief) along the way. From hiking among towering rock formations to exploring charming shops and strolling along peaceful canyon trails, every part of the trip felt carefully curated for fun, connection, and just the right amount of adventure. It was a chance to slow down, enjoy the outdoors, and make birthday memories that we’ll treasure for years to come.

Our first stop was the iconic Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte. Hiking among these towering red rock formations was awe-inspiring, and watching Sage take a few steps on his own (when he wasn’t perched on Andrew’s shoulders) made it even more special. The views were incredible, and it felt amazing to be outdoors together as a family.

Tlaquepaque Arts Village

One spot I knew we couldn’t miss was Tlaquepaque Arts Village. Andrew was enchanted by the Spanish-style architecture, and we fell in love with all the handmade ceramics at Esteban’s Pottery. Wandering the cobblestone paths and popping into little shops made for a leisurely and unforgettable afternoon.

Oak Creek Canyon – West Fork Trail

On the morning of Andrew’s actual birthday, we hiked the West Fork Trail in Oak Creek Canyon. It was a hot day, so we kept the hike short, but the scenery was stunning. Andrew carried Sage on his back in our Ergo baby carrier, which meant we could all enjoy the beauty of the canyon together while celebrating his special day outdoors.

Where We Ate

Freeform Coffee

Just a short walk from Tlaquepaque Village, Freeform Coffee quickly became our go-to spot for a caffeine fix—and it’s easily my favorite coffee shop in all of Sedona. I’ve been to Sedona a few times now, and this place stands out for its smooth espresso, relaxed vibe, and bright, minimalist space that makes you want to linger. We stopped by twice during our three-day weekend, and it was the perfect way to start our mornings before heading out to explore.

Rascal

During our stay at The Wilde Resort & Spa, we went to happy hour twice at Rascal, the hotel’s vibrant and modern restaurant. We went twice for happy hour and loved the relaxed vibe, delicious small plates, and creative cocktails—all at great prices. With open-air seating and Sedona’s sunset views in the background, it was the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring.

During our three day weekend in Sedona we stayed at The Wilde Resort & Spa. Mama got to squeeze in some “me time” at the spa, pool, and fitness center. The ambiance and the setting were so peaceful and beautiful, making it the perfect escape.
