A Luxury Agriturismo Stay in Southern Italy

During our fall honeymoon trip through Italy, we spent two unforgettable nights at Tenuta Negroamaro in the heart of Puglia. Arriving during the off-season meant we had the entire property almost completely to ourselves, which somehow made the experience feel even more intimate and magical. Rainy skies settled over the countryside during our stay, but instead of taking away from the experience, the weather wrapped everything in a quiet, cozy charm. Between the warm hospitality, thoughtful boutique hotel touches, and the stunning interiors designed by a London-based interior designer, it quickly became one of the most memorable stays of our trip.

What we loved most about Tenuta Negroamaro was how effortlessly luxurious and relaxed it felt at the same time. The property has that dreamy “agritourismo” atmosphere — farm dogs wandering the grounds, fruit trees growing everywhere, and peaceful walking paths surrounded by the Puglian countryside. Our two-year-old, Sage, was completely enchanted, especially when she got to feed the donkey each morning. Even in the rain, we spent hours wandering the property, admiring the lemon trees, cozy outdoor spaces, and imagining how beautiful it must be in the spring and summer when the pool, outdoor bar, gym, massage services, and wine tastings are fully in swing. Our suite even had its own private plunge pool and patio, making it feel like our own secluded little retreat. We also appreciated the thoughtful details throughout our stay, like the breakfast order cards left each evening — such a simple but brilliant boutique hotel touch. On our final night, we wandered into the kitchen hoping to find a small snack and instead ended up sharing one of our favorite moments of the trip. Despite the language barrier, the owner and her boyfriend welcomed us so warmly, making us lattes, offering pastries, and giving us a personal tour of the property. It was such a genuine act of kindness that perfectly captured the warmth of southern Italy.

Even though our stay at Tenuta Negroamaro took place during a rainy off-season week, it somehow made us love it even more. The slower pace, quiet grounds, and personalized hospitality gave us the chance to fully settle in and appreciate the beauty of the property. It’s easy to imagine how lively and stunning it must feel during wedding season or summer evenings by the pool, but there was something incredibly special about experiencing it in such a peaceful, intimate way. For anyone planning a trip to Puglia — especially couples looking for a romantic countryside escape with boutique charm — this is a place we’ll be thinking about for a long time.
XOXO
