Over the Christmas holiday, my parents took my sister and I to Tombstone to explore this historic, cowboy themed town! My mom had already taken a few friends to this tourist spot but the rest of us had never been so it was very exciting. The town was decorated for Christmas with a big tree in the center which I of course had to get some photos with! It’s about an hour southeast of Tucson so you can easily add it to your itinerary if you are planning a trip to Tucson or southern Arizona.

Tombstone is best known as the the site of the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral in the popular cowboy movie Tombstone which they reenact in town daily every hour from 10-5. A few of the other popular attractions in Tombstone are The Bird Cage Theatre, Old Tombstone Western Theme Park, and Tombstone’s Historama. There are several places to eat in town including the Crystal Palace Saloon, Doc Holiday’s Saloon, and Big Nose Kate’s Saloon, inspired by characters in the movie! We ate lunch at the lively Big Nose Kate’s Saloon and really enjoyed our meal. It was super quick and we got to listen to some live music while we ate.

Most of the attractions in town you have to pay for which we opted out of because we wanted to squeeze in a trip to Bisbee, 30 min outside of Tombstone that same day. But we had fun walking around and shopping in the boutiques and antique stores. My dad is a big cowboy fan so he really enjoyed shopping at one of the western stores there. We picked up some coffee at the Undertaker’s Espresso Bar on our way out of town!
