Los Angeles Travel Guide | Where To Shop, Eat, Stay, & More
I had such a fun time visiting my sister in LA this past March! This was my second time visiting Los Angeles and it was mainly to be able to spend time with my sister who has lived there for the past 3 years. I definitely did a lot more “touristy” type things on my first visit so if you want to check out that blog post as well for my ideas you totally can! We squeezed in a trip to Malibu and Ojai as well which I will be sharing full blog posts on soon, but we were still able to do quite a few LA things which I wanted to share with you guys in this post!
My outfits from this trip were from Grey State Apparel, Unpublished, and Vivaia. Use the code “ESPERANZA15” for 15% off of Grey State Apparel, use code 15ESPERANZA to save 15% on Unpublished, and “vlove” to save 10% on Vivaia!
Where To Go
Melrose Trading Post
If you are visiting Los Angeles on a Sunday and you love vintage, then you have to check out Melrose Trading Post! It’s an open air market with a plethora of vendors selling vintage clothing, home goods, collectibles, and antiques. Rocio and I had so much fun browsing but didn’t buy anything because everything was so pricey lol, but I loved browsing through all of the amazing vintage clothing! We spent several hours here but you could easily shop there all day! Tickets are $7 and they do have valet parking if you can’t find street parking nearby.
Address: 7850 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
The Row DTLA
This was such a cool spot to check out in downtown Los Angeles for unique shopping and dining! The Row DTLA is a massive commercial development with offices, restaurants, shops, bars, and events spaces. My sister and I stopped by to check it out and we also got our nails done at Powder Beauty. We both got a luxurious manicure and pedicure with the prettiest floral foot bath and even rose! We also happened upon a beauty pop up event for Innisfree and picked up a ton of samples!

Lake Hollywood Park
My sister Rocio used to bring the twins she nannied to this park so she really wanted to take me here! Lake Hollywood Park is located in the Hollywood Hills right beneath the famous Hollywood Sign which makes the view from this park super cool. There were a lot of families and people playing with their dogs at the park as well as tourists checking out the views. Rocio snapped a few photos/videos for me here while we enjoyed the park for an hour or so before heading to our brunch spot for the morning.

Melrose Ave
We headed to Melrose for a lovely brunch at Coffee For Sasquatch on Melrose after visiting Lake Hollywood Park. Rocio had to leave for work so I worked remotely from Coffee For Sasquatch before heading to a lip filler appointment at Vivant Aesthetics which was just a few blocks down from the coffee shop. If you are interested in that, check out my blog post here all about getting lip filler at Vivant. Afterwards I checked out this cool vintage shop American Vintage. Years ago when Rocio and I visited Los Angeles, we did a full day of checking out shops and murals on Melrose (check out that blog post here), so if you love those things then you will definitely want to spend some time on the famous Melrose Ave!
Silver Lake
Silver Lake is a fun, trendy neighborhood in Los Angeles to explore. On the day I explored Silver Lake, Rocio and I had coffee at Alfred Coffee in the morning before she had to leave for work again. Luckily for me, there were several adorable boutiques located on the corner this coffee shop was on so I had plenty to explore before she was able to join me again. The shops photographed above are Clare V., Supergoodie, and Kamp. She also drove me around the Silver Lake reservoir so I could at least see it, which I know is very popular spot for the residents in the area to exercise/hang out at.
Address: 3337 1/2 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Venice Beach
On our last full day together in Los Angeles, Rocio and I were supposed to head to Laguna Beach but the rain was so bad in March when I visited that we decided it would be best to stay in LA instead so we headed to Venice Beach and popped into boutiques on Abbot Kinney. Afterwards, Rocio took some photos of me on the beach, really quickly because it was freezing!

Roadtrip To Malibu
I decided to include this suggestion in my blog post for those that are staying in Los Angeles for a longer time and maybe have the time to squeeze a road trip to Malibu. If you do, I would highly suggest it! It is so beautiful there, I wish we could have stayed longer. While in Malibu, we checked out El Matador Beach and Point Dume, both of which were absolutely stunning! It was super easy to park at El Matador Beach because they had a big parking lot which you paid to park in. Point Dume was a bit trickier because they have a much smaller parking strip although once we got down to the beach there we realized there was another big parking lot there that we didn’t know about so I suggest doing more research if you plan on heading there! Check out my Malibu blog post here.

This incredibly beautiful Japanese cafe, Rykn Cafe, is located in the Los Angeles Arts District. They serve coffee, matcha, sake, wine, and dishes like bowls, toasts, and bento boxes. With beautiful interiors, plenty of seating, and amazing pastries & coffee, it’s the perfect spot to grab coffee with a friend or work remotely. Rocio and I definitely plan on coming back!

Alfred Coffee (Silver Lake)
Before exploring in Silver Lake, my sister and I stopped by the Alfred Coffee location there for coffee and breakfast! We each had the breakfast burrito which was so delicious, I definitely recommend it, and we both loved our vanilla lattes. They have a little patio with seating which was super cute and we really enjoyed getting to eat our breakfast outside. There are several cute boutiques on the same street that I checked out afterwards. Alfred Coffee is actually a popular coffee chain with several locations all over Los Angeles so be sure to check them out!

Verve Coffee (Melrose)
I have been a fan of Verve Coffee for a long time now so I was so glad that we were able to visit not one, but two of their beautiful coffee shop locations in Los Angeles! The Melrose location Verve Coffee was probably my favorite out of the two we were able to visit, I just loved the space, the plants, and that beautiful long coffee bar. It was pouring rain while on this day of my visit with my sister Rocio which made it an extra cozy visit sitting inside sipping our lattes and enjoying our delicious sandwiches. Plus, it’s a great sized space with lot’s of seating inside and outside.

We ordered the same sandwiches because we loved them so much and our lattes were divine as well.

Guerilla Tacos
After visiting The ROW, we headed to headed to Guerilla Tacos for dinner in downtown Los Angeles. I am telling you guys, they had the tastiest, yummiest tacos with really unique flavors and combinations. We tried an array of tacos with virgin cocktails and each one was delicious! I also loved the industrial modern vibes and fun pops of color of the restaurant interiors. It was an amazing dinner spot, Rocio and I enjoyed it so much!

Where To Stay
If you are looking for a unique hotel experience in Los Angeles then look no further! The beautiful Hotel June has such a chic aesthetic, an amazing swim club & restaurant, coffee shop, valet car service, and it’s located near the LAX airport. My sister Rocio and I stayed there for a night while I was visiting her this past spring and we absolutely loved it! I’m obsessed with the design aesthetic and I have to say, as a former interior designer, this boutique hotel hands down has my favorite interiors of all the hotels I’ve stayed at. Totally my style!
